Learn Gujarati
For the Gujarati School our vision is that the teaching and outcomes should be of same comparable standard with that of mainstream school.
The Gujarati teaching should support pupils to maintain their language skills, increase their Hindu cultural heritage and develop their distinct identity as members of wider community.
GHU Gujarati School is part of Crawley Community Language Network. Teachers (Chetnaben Mistry, Dhiren Kateria, Ashwin Soni) attended 10-week course to improve their teaching skills.
We offer 3 classes – entry level (taught by Ashwin), intermediate level (Dhiren) and examination entry (Chetnaben). There is considerable variety of language competency and needs within each group. Within the higher group several pupils have entered for GCSE examinations and for the first time two pupils entered for A levels.
We have 45 children registered and room for more. Classes are open to all children aged six and above irrespective of their culture or religious background. Come with your child and see what we do or give Ashwin a call for more information (07801045481).
We continue to look for teachers or helpers for Gujarati School. Please let Ashwin know if you can support on paid or voluntary basis.

Gujarati School Report by Ashwin Soni October 2009
In July ’09 yet another year ended for GHU Gujarati School. We invited the parents of 47 children to come and review the work and internal exam results with the teachers. As it is quite common, only handful of parents managed to come. But those who came found the information and the advice we provided very helpful for their children.
2008/9 year had 17 children in Entry Level (my class), 15 in Mid Level (Dhiren Kateria’s class) and 15 in Top Level (Chetnaben Mistry’s class). We put five children through their GCSE examination and for the first time two through A level.
Jignesh Gadhvi and Varun Sabapara passed A levels exams with A grades. This was not only excellent achievement but enabled them to obtain admission in Universities of their choice.
At GCSE the following pupils passed: Darsen Limbachia grade A, Shikha Kateria grade B, Sapna Mistry, Karishma Amin and Sanjay Amin each with C grade.
These are outstanding results achieved through sheer hard work and dedication. Our heartiest congratulations go to all the children for the great achievements and big thank you to the parents for supporting them.
Good news is GHU Gujarati School continuous 100% results of grade A-C at GCSE and A Level for the past five years!
Chetnaben, Dhirenbhai and I have really enjoyed teaching the child this year. We believe the parents were happy with the progress made by their children. We attended formal training this term in order to become better teachers. As a result we greatly improved our teaching methods, style and syllabus.
We always welcome any construction comments about the School from the parents and the committee.
We continue to look for teachers or helpers for Gujarati School. Please do let me know if you can support on paid or voluntary basis.
Finally on behalf of GHU I would like to express my “big thank you” to Chetnaben, Dhirenbhai and Banitaben for their hard work and dedication in successfully running GHU Gujarati School.
We reopened after summer holidays in September. The School runs every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 mid-day.
Bring your child along to learn Gujarati – first three lessons are FREE. Out fees is still £55 for the whole year.
Our priorities in the new term are:-
Attend more formal training on teaching second language with Community Language Group.
Put six children through GCSE exams. Some are young but ready to do the exam.
Consider starting adult classes! We are getting some enquires and we shall give some thoughts this year.
